Aurora - Reservar uma mesa

We usually ended up in this area after our walk through Ciutadella old town. There is a small shaded square to sit in under the palm trees. We decided to have a couple of drinks in bar Aurora. Great area to people watch but service was incredibly slow. We noticed some people becoming frustrated because no one would take their order or give them their bill. We were in no hurry so enjoyed the long rest over our few drinks. Prices were very good and cheaper than elsewhere in Ciutadella.

Staff saw us perusing the menu outside with enthusiasm although there were no available tables. It looked only like a corner brasserie but seemed popular. They Invited us into bar for a drink and put us on the waiting list. Drinks were just poured as a table opened up and we sat down for one of the most perfectly cooked and presented meals we could have expected. Staff were quick , very friendly and accommodating. Probably the best meal and experience I’ve had on the island by far.

We ordered the seafood (fish, clams, calamar, prawns etc) pealla for 17€ each. You have to be a minimum of 2 persons for them to make any paella. It was really good and so much food that we had to ask for a doggybag. The only downside was that they were really slow, but that is for all of Menorca so not a biggie.

On our first evening in Ciutadella, a Sunday, we found that some restaurants were not open after lunchtime. We wandered through Ciutadella to the Placa de ses Palmeres near the windmill and found an old syyle cafe restaurant serving burgers and beer and we shared a bottle of red as well

Great food, great service. The tapas was exciting stuff eg artichokes with gambas and garlic, stuffed aubergine. The portions were generous and prices were definitely lower than restaurants on the coast. My partner had sole which was superb. Waiters were very friendly. Recommended!!
